Nudity in the entertainment industry is disrespectful - Sola Sobawole

Veteran Nollywood actress, Sola Sobawole has opened up on actresses who go nude in the name of acting. When asked by Vanguard why she gets annoyed over nudity, she said

I don’t get annoyed, the bottom line is this; nobody forces you to do anything. We need education and we need exposure. I’m a typical Nigerian woman, I love my Naija and our culture; there are some things we don’t do, it’s not in our culture. If we say we want to do it, we can do it in our house under our roof not in public because you get no respect doing that. Our producers and directors need to know that when you are acting as a prostitute, you don’t need to remove your dress to become a prostitute. You don’t need to be touched to act as a grade A prostitute. I did Asewo to Re Mecca, the pace setter, fantastic; myself and Toyin Adegbola. I played the number 1 Asewo and I introduced Toyin’s character to it. We didn’t remove anything and it was talk of the town. When the producers know this, you will not see nakedness again. We should want people to respect us and respect this profession.

Switzerland To Return $380m Stolen By Abacha To Nigeria.

Switzerland will return $380 million to Nigeria, the money that were stolen during General Sani Abacha’s presidency in the 1990s.
According to Geneva’s public prosecutor, the $380 million will be returned under the supervision of the World Bank. It would be recalled that after Sani Abacha’s death, Nigerian authorities appealed to the governments of countries to which the money had been traced – including Lichtenstein, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Luxembourg, but especially Switzerland – for mutual legal assistance in the case.
Later the Obasanjo government implicated Abacha and his family in a wholesale looting of Nigeria’s coffers. In 2002 Abacha’s family purportedly agreed to return $1.2 billion that was taken from the central bank. However, the late dictator’s son, Mohammed Abacha, continues to maintain that all the assets in question were legitimately acquired. Besides, another of Abacha’s surviving sons, Abba Sani Abacha, was implicated in criminal activity in April of 2005. He was accused of money laundering, embezzlement, and fraud, Abba was extradited to Switzerland from Germany. He was handed a one-year suspended prison sentence that was cancelled in May 2014 by Switzerland’s top court.
It is believed that more than $2bn were deposited in European banks by members of his family. Switzerland last year returned $700m to the Nigerian government after a deal was struck to end a legal dispute, $200 million had allegedly been siphoned off before reaching its destination in Nigeria’s public works projects.

Pope Francis Applauds The Bravery Of Nigerian Priests Over Boko Haram.

Pope Francis has hailed the bravery of Nigerian priests who have stood strong in the face of Boko Haram violence and worked to build bridges with the Muslim community.

The pontiff in an open letter said, "How can we fail to remember the priests, religious men and women, missionaries and catechists (lay teachers) who, despite untold sacrifices, never abandoned their flock, but remained at their service."

"I wish here to express my heartfelt thanks to you, because in the midst of so many trials and sufferings the Church in Nigeria does not cease to witness to hospitality, mercy and forgiveness," he said.

Boko Haram has seized swathes of territory in Nigeria's northeast in an Islamist insurgency that began in 2009 and has killed more than 13,000 people, displaced 1.5 million, and destroyed churches and mosques.

According to AFP, Francis slammed the militants as "people who claim to be religious, but who instead abuse religion, to make of it an ideology for their own distorted interests of exploitation and murder."

But he urged the African country's Church to continue "to favour reconciliation, to promote experiences of sharing, to extend bridges of dialogue, to serve the weakest and the excluded."

Boko Haram's violence has intensified over the six-year conflict, with attacks into Chad, Cameroon and Niger.

A four-country joint offensive against the militants, part of efforts to stabilise northeast Nigeria in time for general elections set for March 28, has claimed a string of successes in rebel-held territory in recent weeks.

Airport Cleaner Gets N7, 200 Increase In Salary For Returning N12m.

Josephine Ugwu, a National Diploma graduate of Our Saviour Institute of Science, Agriculture and Technology, Enugu, who works for Patovilki Cleaning Services, a company engaged by FAAN to keep Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos clean,  has been rewarded with a sum of N7,200 salary increment.

Ugwu who earns N7,800 before now earns N15,000. However her colleagues who spoke on her behalf have said it is a big shame that the Government heard about her noble gesture and ignored it instead of rewarding her bountifully to encourage other Nigerians to be honest.

According to a colleague some people have called her a fool for returning the N12m she found in local and foreign currencies to the owner, and now it looks like she really acted foolishly because she got no reward per say, a colleague said.

Dire Photos Shows 15 MAGGOTS Being Removed From School Girl's Gums.

A schoolgirl who went to the dentist with swollen gums was horrified when 15 maggots were removed from her mouth. Ana Cardoso, 10, was taken to the clinic after complaining about feeling a tingling sensation in her gums and things "moving around".

Stunned mum Adriana, 35, said: "She had been saying for a few days that she felt something moving around in her mouth and at first I thought she was joking.

Ana was diagnosed with a rare form of Oral Myiasis, a fly lava maggot infection that grows in humans and animals.

A spokesman for the dental surgery in the Brazilian capital said: "There were 15 maggots in her mouth so we videoed the removal for our records as it is a fairly rare occurrence.

"We also wanted to show the girl's family what had happened and warn others."
